Episode 262: Our Review of "Man on the Run" (Paul McCartney documentary)
Sunday Mar 15, 2026
Sunday Mar 15, 2026
In this episode, Dave and Chris review Morgan Neville’s Man on the Run, the new documentary about Paul McCartney’s first post‑Beatles years. We summarize the film’s release, Neville’s approach to telling Paul’s journey in the 1970s, and discuss the narrative, archival footage, photography, and contributions from all Wings members. Is it worth seeing?
As always, we also read listener feedback and cover recent Beatles‑related news and releases.
Enjoy!

Great points ,yes Jimmy & Joe are definitely considered ”the classic line up”for sure ,Venus & Mars being my personal fave ...I always considered Egg an improvement over speed of sound & London Town ,although the latter has grown on me over the years (like a fungus) Kidding Looking forward to the next episode! Thanks for the reply . I can chime in again in a few weeks and let you guys know how our show w Steve goes if you want ...take care.

Thanks for the comment. I wonder if the peaks of 1975–76 with that particular lineup were just too much for Paul and everything after was kind of a letdown especially after Jimmy and Joe left. The players in the Back to the Egg lineup were great, but I’m thinking that the magic or interest was gone by then. Although we gave Back to the Egg a somewhat mixed review, it certainly shows Paul trying to branch out and do some new things which were interesting. But then with Tug of War and Pipes of Peace he went back to being more conventional. Interesting questions!

You know ,it’s really kind of disappointing to hear Paul’s comments about the Back to the Egg lp and line up. I was fully in as a Wings fan when I was a kid and my feeling about that album at that time and now is the same ,I felt that the band was evolving into something a bit more diverse musically, still Paul ,still Wings but slightly different in a good way. Anywho ,just wanted to add that thought. I’ve worked w Steve on a few sessions and he’s the nicest guy and still plays great !
